Find A Support Group

Joining a bladder cancer patient support group can give you the opportunity to talk to other patients who have already experienced a treatment or operation that you are about to have.  They can understand what you are going through and tell you how they coped.  The simple act of sharing can give you a feeling of empowerment and confidence that can help you overcome that initial sense of perhaps feeling scared and not knowing what to do.  These groups are often a great support for your partners and families too.  Many groups will also have speakers attending meetings, often medical professionals, giving the opportunity to ask questions.

If you are involved in a regional support group and would like your group to be listed here, please send details about your group to groups@actionbladdercanceruk.org

NEW SUPPORT GROUPS

There aren't enough support groups in the UK for bladder cancer patients, their families and carers - so, one of ABC UK's core programmes is working to initiate and assist the opening of new ones.  When we started this programme in May 2015, there were only 10 support groups for bladder cancer patients in the whole of the UK.  Since then we have spent time researching and identifying the areas of the country which are not served by an active bladder cancer support group, and worked hard to contact bladder cancer consultants and nurse specialists at many major hospitals across the country about starting a new group.   The response has been tremendous.  As of March 2017, with our help, 16 more groups are up and running - actively supporting patients and working alongside ABC UK. That's 16 new groups for bladder cancer patients.  These are listed below and full details of meetings, contact details and venues are on our support group listings page.
