Find A Support Group
Joining a bladder cancer patient support group can give you the opportunity to talk to other patients who have already experienced a treatment or operation that you are about to have. They can understand what you are going through and tell you how they coped. The simple act of sharing can give you a feeling of empowerment and confidence that can help you overcome that initial sense of perhaps feeling scared and not knowing what to do. These groups are often a great support for your partners and families too. Many groups will also have speakers attending meetings, often medical professionals, giving the opportunity to ask questions.
If you are involved in a regional support group and would like your group to be listed here, please send details about your group to firstname.lastname@example.org

NEW SUPPORT GROUPS
There aren't enough support groups in the UK for bladder cancer patients, their families and carers - so ABC UK is working on a UK programme of initiating and assisting the opening of new ones. We have spent time researching and identifying the areas of the country which are not served by an active bladder cancer support group.
Since May 2015, we have contacted bladder cancer consultants and nurse specialists at over 20 major hospitals across the country, that didn't have a bladder cancer support group, about starting a new group. The response has been tremendous. As of March 2016, 9 of these hospitals have already held their first meeting. These new groups are:
Great Western Hospital Swindon
Southmead Hospital Bristol
University Hospital Coventry
Royal Devon and Exeter Hospital
Royal Stoke University Hospital
County Hospital Stafford
Freeman Hospital Newcastle
Churchill Hospital Oxford
Charing Cross Hospital Hammersmith
Meeting details for these groups are on the support group listings page of the ABC UK.
We are talking to even more hospitals about setting up a support group and news of other new groups will be listed as they are confirmed.
If you are a bladder cancer patient and there is currently no support group at the hospital you attend, or within an acceptable travelling distance, please let us know. We can help to try and get a new group started: email@example.com
