ABC UK PRIMARY CARE EDUCATION EVENTS

Late diagnosis can be an issue for those with bladder cancer.  Improving awareness and knowledge within primary care about symptoms of bladder cancer and when to refer onwards is vital.  ABC UK is addressing this need by developing resources and learning opportunities for GPs and other within primary care practice.   ABC UK are currently developing further resources for primary care. Early diagnosis is very important for those with bladder cancer - ABC UK are delighted to be working with NB Medical on resources for GP's.  

Bladder cancer is considered the 'Cinderella' of urological cancers - despite being one of the 10 most common cancers in the UK it has seen far less investment and research compared to many rarer types of cancer. As a result, survival has not dramatically improved over the past 30 years. 

With the support of Action Bladder Cancer UK, this free clinic from NB will aim to focus on the diagnostic challenge that exists in Primary Care, highlighting the subtle signs that may point to the existence of bladder cancer. We will review the current referral criteria and the management of visible and non-visible haematuria. Relevant to anyone who ever uses urine dipsticks, this clinic will increase awareness of bladder cancer and work towards improving earlier diagnosis.
